Overview
- Wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity and sustained residual effect due to binding with skin proteins
- Activity is not affected by the presence of blood and organic material
- Multiple uses in veterinary practice including:
- Pre-operative skin preparation
- Disinfection of instruments (apart from those containing cemented glass)
- Surface disinfection of equipment (e.g. operating tables)
- Chlorhexidine gluconate 50 mg/mL (= available chlorhexidine 2.8%)
