Active Ingredients: Benazepril 2.5mg Vetace 2.5mg is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, the same ingredient as Fortekor but manufactured by a different pharmaceutical company. This class of drug is commonly used to treat cardiovascular diseases in animals, such as hypertension and congestive heart failure. It lowers blood pressure and improves overall cardiac output by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II (a vasoconstrictor). Inhibiting the production of angiotensin II reduces vasoconstriction and sodium retention, thereby lowering blood pressure and supporting heart and kidney function. It is indicated for heart diseases such as congestive heart failure (CHF) and hypertension, either alone or in combination with renal problems. Side Effects: - Gastrointestinal Upset: Some animals may experience nausea, loss of appetite, or diarrhea. - Hypotension (low blood pressure): Symptoms such as fatigue and weakness may occur. Precautions and Monitoring: - Monitoring Blood Pressure and Renal Function: Regularly check blood pressure, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine (CREA). - Drug Interactions: If taking diuretics or other cardiac medications concurrently, close monitoring is required to ensure no negative interactions occur.
